Position: Poultry Specialist Consultant

OBJECTIVE
The objective is to create an industry wide bio-security and good farming
practices hand-book based on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and
a set of job aids on a variety of subjects that will operationize key
bi-security and good farming practices for the farm workers.


PURPOSE
The Poultry Specialist will create:
1. An industry wide bio-security and good farming practices hand-book
based on the SOPs from various companies, international organizations,
etc. It will be an extension/expansion of the existing booklet, “Effective
Disease Prevention in Broiler farms”. The existing booklet explains, with
illustrations, some of the bio-security techniques. The hand-book will be
used as a practical guide by the Technical Service (TS) staff of Sector 1
firms and poultry shops, educational institutions and poultry health
practioners.
2. A set of job aids (examples below) on a variety of subjects that
will operationize key bi-security and good farming practices for the farm
workers.
Ø Cleaning and disinfection guideline
Ø Ventilation
Ø Pest management for rodent (baiting)
Ø Waster disposal (dead chickens and used litter)

TASKS FOR HAND-BOOK
a. Meet with SAFE staff to discuss details of the Scope of Work (SOW)
b. Review existing literature, SOPs, PPTs, etc.
c. Visit at least two farms - one Teaching Farm and one non-Teaching
Farm
d. Discuss with farmers, TS and other key stakeholders of Sector 1
and poultry shops
e. Create and submit the drafts of the hand-book
f. Revise draft and submit final draft

TASKS FOR JOB AIDS
a. Meet with SAFE staff to discuss details of the SOW
b. Review existing literature, SOPs, PPTs, etc.
c. Visit at least two farms - one Teaching Farm and one none-Teaching
Farm
d. Group discussions with farmers to identify the key jobs on the
farm
e. Create and submit the drafts of the job aids which will be based
on the hand-book described above
f. Revise draft and resubmit final draft

DELIVERABLES
Approved drafts of the hand-book and job aids

QUALIFICATIONS
1. At least four (4) years of poultry industry experience. Experience in
broiler production is preferable.
2. At least a high school diploma
3. Bahasa Indonesian required and at least intermediate English preferred
