Save the Children is a leading, private child-focused non-governmental alliance of 29 member organizations that works in 120 countries throughout the world. Save the Children has worked in Indonesia since 1976 to promote health and nutrition, education, child protection, livelihoods, and emergency preparedness and response. The AusAid Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) project will assist the Government of Indonesia to meet MDG’s 4 and 5 by improving the health workforce and health management systems at all levels of intervention. This project is led by the Ministry of Health through a Program Management Unit and Save the Children will play a supporting role to the Ministry of Health.


The position we are looking for is:

Communication Specialist HHS Project (CS HHS) based in Jakarta

We are recruiting a Communication Specialist position for a proposal that we are developing to strengthen health systems in Indonesia. The post holder will work closely with entire HSS team and Ministry of Health counterparts to develop and implement a communications strategy for the HSS project. This will include identifying and communicating to the Indonesian and Australian public about the achievements of the project, facilitating project events, seeking media coverage, and establishing protocols for documentation.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Assist the Ministry of Health Program Management Unit (PMU) to develop a communications strategy for the HSS project.

2. Gain approval for and then implement the HSS communications strategy.

3. Develop communications materials and contacts for the HSS program. This could include the use of press releases, press conferences, web-sites, social networking sites, standardized success stories, photos, videos, and other materials.

4. Assist the PMU and HSS project in designing, organizing, and implementing any public activities such as seminars, conferences, or meetings.

5. Assist with visits by AusAid officials and other external evaluators to the HSS project.

6. Compile communications information for regular reporting.

7. Develop terms of reference, participate in selection, and manage all communications consultants.

8. Maintain a database of communications materials.

9. Assist PMU in tracking the HSS work plan, monitoring and evaluation.

10. Assist PMU in preparing reports.

11. Support Save the Children’s EVERYONE campaign and other Save the Children or Cardno major public events.

12. Some travel to project sites.

Requirements:
Education: Bachelors University Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.

Skill and Experiences:

· Minimal 5 years work experience in corporate or non-profit communications with various experience or familiarity with institutional donor projects.

· Knowledge and skills in modern communications strategies including traditional and social media.

· Ability to develop and implement strategic communications plans together with Government stakeholders.

· Contacts and experience working with the Indonesian media.

· Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural team.

· Well-organized and thorough database of communications materials.

· Proven contribution to the implementation of the of project in a support role.

· Strong contacts in the Indonesian media.

· Patience and flexibility.

· Experience working with the Australian or other foreign media are preferred.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

· Excellent in computer literate.
