Save the Children is a leading, private child-focused non-governmental
alliance of 29 member organizations that works in 120 countries
throughout the world. Save the Children has worked in Indonesia since
1976 to promote health and nutrition, education, child protection,
livelihoods, and emergency preparedness and response. Save the Children
has grown enormously in the country and today we operate in 13 provinces
across Indonesia. Our program approach now brings long term and
sustainable benefits to more Indonesian children and we work to
establish effective, self-sustaining approaches to issues related to
child protection, health, education, livelihoods, emergency response and
disaster risk reduction. Save the Children partners with children,
communities, local organizations and the government of Indonesia to
transform the lives of Indonesia children and their families. Currently
Save the Children has an immediate need for experienced staffs to be
part of our SPECIAL3 program team and will be based in Belu, NTT.
The position we are looking for are:
1. Senior Project Officer (code: SPO-Belu) - 1 post, based in Belu, NTT
The post holder is responsible to lead, develop and implement education
quality improvement activities at the Early Childhood Education (ECE -
Paud) and elementary school level to improve children's access to
quality basic education and to ensure the program is in line with Save
the Children's and donor's objectives in education.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Work with the Education Advisor, Programs Director, project team,
and other Belu-based education project staff to develop the project
work plan.
2. Work with Bappeda and the District Education Office to select participating schools.
3. Work with other Save the Children Belu staff to develop and
maintain Bappeda, DEO, and elected official support for the project by
sharing information and including them in all aspects of project
implementation.
4. Work closely with teachers/tutors, principals, school committees, and other stakeholders to implement project activities.
5. Train and mentor education stakeholders on improving the quality of education in communities.
6. Develop advocacy activities with stakeholders in the target areas
to ensure the adoption of Save the Children approaches to quality basic
education for marginalized children.
7. Facilitate activities to increase access to ECE including
physical improvements in infrastructure and educational materials.
8. Work closely with communities to ensure their active participation and acceptance of the project.
9. Ensure accurate monitoring and evaluation of project activities including overseeing the baseline study.
10. Ensure appropriate financial implementation of the project
including ensuring that expenditures are made on a regular basis.
11. Coordinate with other Save the Children and other education projects in Belu.
Special Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years of working experience with minimum 2 years
working in education projects especially Early Childhood Education or
elementary school.
* Previous management experience.
* Previous experience working with local governments.
* Knowledge & experience of financial management
* High quality of technical, monitoring & evaluation skill.
2. Project Officer (code: PO-Belu) - 1 post, based in Belu, NTT
The post holder is responsible to support, develop and implement
education quality improvement activities at the Early Childhood
Education (ECE - Paud) and elementary school level to improve children's
access to quality basic education and to ensure the program is in line
with Save the Children's and donor's objectives in education.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with teachers/tutors, principals, school
committees, and other stakeholders to implement project activities
according to the established project workplan.
2. Train and mentor education stakeholders on improving the quality of education in communities.
3. Undertake Advocacy -in coordination with line manager--, with
stakeholders in the target areas to ensure the adoption of Save the
Children approaches to quality basic education for marginalized
children.
4. Facilitate activities to increase access to ECE including
physical improvements in infrastructure and educational materials.
5. Work closely with communities to ensure their active participation and acceptance of the project.
6. Develop, maintain and improve close-relationships with local
officials and partners to ensure constructive working relationships that
would contribute to the learning and sustainability of the program.
7. Participate in project monitoring and evaluation including
contributing information for the elaboration of accurate and timely
reports.
8. Participate in relevant meetings with local authorities and
other stakeholders on topics related to the implementation of the
project.
9. Develop excellent communication and cooperation within the team
and between the different education projects in Belu, NTT.
10. Assist with expenditure tracking to monitor project financial management.
Specific Requirements:
* Minimum of 3 years of working experience with minimum 2 years
working in education projects especially Early Childhood Education or
elementary school.
* Capable to implement a work plan.
* Capable to make attention with details.
* Good quality of technical skill.
* Able to work independently or in a team
General Requirements for all positions:
Education: Minimum Bachelor Degree in related disciplines - preferable Education.
Skill and Experiences:
* Previous successful experience in development projects, preferably education projects in rural areas.
* Previous management experience (preferred).
* Previous experience working with local governments.
* Good knowledge and ability to work to mobilize communities.
* Good knowledge of development issues.
* Good understanding of children's issues in Indonesian context.
* Good understanding of the Indonesia education systems.
* Good communications skills including experience in training and mentoring.
* Knowledge of the local context.
* Excellent organizational skills including report writing.
* Ability to work with children.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Good negotiation and advocacy skills.
* Ability to work with little supervision.
* Computer literate.
* Able to drive a motorcycle.
