AMARTA II is a USAID funded program that aims to improve the
competitiveness of the value chains of three high-value commodities:
Coffee, Cocoa and Horticultural crops and to increase the access to
credit of smallholder farmers in these three sectors.
The project will work extensively with local government, farmers groups,
marketing companies, processors, input suppliers and other stakeholders
to increase the income of the whole sector and the proportion of income
retained by farmers.
Our project and offices are in Medan, Makassar, Bandung, and our National Office is located in Jakarta.
We are currently seeking experienced professionals to fill the Senior
Field Technician for Cocoa for 2 persons based in Makassar.
Senior Field Technician for Cocoa. S/he will manage and supervise
technical and training, coordinate and manage logistic support for all
aspects of farmer training, supervise cocoa demo plots/trials, farmer
field days, farmer meeting, solar dryer program, access to finance,
access to transparent market, promote improve soil nutrient on and off
farm technology such us multi-nutrient fertilization and composting, and
other AMARTA II Program.
Key tasks include facilitating up grade cocoa GAP (good agriculture
practices), Nursery management and plant husbandry to demonstrate the
benefit of improve planting materials and report regularly on the
results from the demo plot, and to the extent possible, the results from
farmers that are also applying the recommendations at the same time.
S/he will manage and supervise AMARTA II Program activities, possibly to
provide technical and monitoring support to other cocoa program
activities in location.
Requirements:University degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness or similar
field. Minimum 5 years of experience in the agribusiness industry, cocoa
related field experience and experience in supporting small and medium
enterprises and cooperatives are preferred. Knowledgeable in the field
of agribusiness linkages and value chain assessment. Should be able to
work with cocoa farmers and know the local communities where they work.
Should show proven ability work independently and travel long distances
by motorbike in rural areas. Previous experience with USAID supported
programs and English language ability are pluses. Must show proficiency
in the use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook
and PowerPoint. Web and internet knowledge are pluses.
Duration of assignment is 12 months and starting date immediately.
