AMARTA II is a USAID funded program that aims to improve the competitiveness of the value chains of export and high-value agricultural commodities, including coffee, cocoa and horticultural crops through improving access to credit, information and markets  in these three sectors.


The project will work extensively with local government, farmers groups, marketing companies, processors, input suppliers and other stakeholders to increase the income of the whole sector and the proportion of income retained by farmers.

Our project and offices are in Medan, Makassar, Bandung, and our National Office is located in Jakarta.

We are currently seeking experienced professionals to fill the Value Chain Leader for Coffee based in Medan.

Value Chain Leader. S/he will lead AMARTA II’s activities in the coffee sector to improve the performance of Sumatra’s specialty coffee value chain in terms of productivity and quality.  The value chain leader will work through public-private alliances to develop services and linkages for smallholders so they may better access information, markets, inputs, and financing.

Key tasks include overseeing all components and activities in the coffee value chain to ensure planned activities are implemented on schedule and within budget. Oversee the data collection and monitoring of field activities so the information collected is relevant to the AMARTA II Performance Management Plan.

Requirements: Relevant eduction in Agronomy, agribusiness, management, or rural development. Minimum of  7 years experience working agriculture development with significant experience in coffee. Relevant training or experience in post-harvest management and marketing is desirable.  Native (Indonesian) language skills required. One or more local languages (Provincial level languages) and English language skills at level 4. Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook & Power Point, the internet including email and web browsing.

Duration of assignment is 12 months and starting date immediately.
