Vacancy at The British Embassy, Jakarta: Energy Adviser

The
British Embassy in Jakarta is part of a world-wide network of 230 Diplomatic
Posts, representing British political, economic and consular interests
overseas. We are currently looking to recruit an Energy Adviser.

Objectives:

* Support the Senior Energy Adviser to shape and deliver UKCCU energy policy and programmes, including on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), Energy Efficiency and Waste to Energy.
* Support establishment/maintenance of UKCCU as a source of relevant knowledge on energy and low carbon development (LCD) within Indonesia to in-country and UK stakeholders.
* Ensure successful implementation of energy-related Prosperity Fund projects.
* Support cross-Embassy work on UK commercial objectives on energy and climate change.


Main Duties and
Responsibilities:

·         Provide
policy advice, briefing and analysis to Senior Energy Adviser and other
internal/external stakeholders.
·          Lead on inward/outward visits and relevant
events including the UK-Indonesia Energy Dialogue.
·         Identify
opportunities for engagement in areas that support UK/GoI energy objectives.
·         Participation
at relevant seminars, workshops, outreach activities etc, including FCO Climate
Attaches Conference.
·         Work
closely with GoI, private sector and international partners to communicate
with, and influence, GoI.
·         Provide
support to potential Prosperity Fund implementers; give recommendations to
UKCCU and Prosperity Board regarding PF bids; monitor, manage and provide
updates on approved projects through regular stakeholder meetings, site visits,
etc, as appropriate.
·         Work
with UKTI and Prosperity Team to support commercial diplomacy objectives.
·         Submit
expenditure details within 1 week of payment.
·         Attend
FCO finance training; submit relevant documents for uploading.
·         Support
DFID programme management processes as necessary.

Qualifications
and experience:
* Has strong subject knowledge as well as understanding of the energy policy process and systems in Indonesia
* Have in-depth understanding of energy and climate change (preferably with degree-level academic background)
* Strong networking skills within the Indonesian energy community, and experience of working at high level on energy policy
* Confident to engage Senior Officials and Ministers within Government
* Excellent communication skills in using both Indonesian and English language
* Good IT skills and experience, including MS Office

The
