Introduction
ACTIVE is a three years join cooperation APINDO - European Union, aims to to
strengthen APINDO’s policy making and advocacy capabilities.This action will address the lack of capacity in the Indonesian
Employers Association (Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia – APINDO) to analyse,
evaluate and advocate adequately the Indonesian business sector’s interests in
a CEPA with the EU and the associated domestic reforms that are needed to
improve competitiveness for a CEPA. The goal is to empower APINDO to play a
more direct and substantive role in (1) preparations for a CEPA thereby creating a conducive international business
environment to expand exports and attract investment, and (2) developing
critical reforms in the two top priorities for competitiveness, namely
logistics and transport and the labor market, thereby creating a competitive national business environment to enhance
the potential opportunities from a CEPA for business and jobs creation.

Description of Duties
Under the direct supervision of APINDO EU ACTIVE  Project Manager and Eecutive Director, the
Economist work
as part of a new Economic Research and Analysis Department in the APINDO
Secretariat funded initially by the EU Active Program to undertake research on
and analysis of the needs and strategies of the business sector in Indonesia to
enable it to compete effectively and productively in global and regional
markets including with the EU through the development of a Comprehensive
Partnership Agreement
Under the guidance of
the APINDO Board and Executive Director:
·         Conduct
policy oriented research and develop relevant policy recommendations on issues
on a range of topics such as sectoral trade issues, investment, services, and
barriers to competitiveness, logistics and transport and capacity building
requirements for business.
·         Assist
in the preparation of negotiating positions and submissions to government on
Indonesia’s Comprehensive and Economic Partnership Agreements, Free Trade
Agreements and Strategic Partnership Agreements
·         Prepare
presentations and policy position papers for the APINDO Board in cooperation
with the Public Outreach and Media Officer and other team members
·         Work
with member survey information and economic data and prepare supporting graphs,
charts for the APINDO Board and for publication
·         Devising methods and procedures for obtaining the data
·         Understanding and intrepreting data
·         Providing technical and non-technical reports on economic
trends related to CEPA
·         Supervise research project
·         Assist
in building and maintaining a relevant economic and information database
·         Communicate
effectively in spoken and written Bahasa Indonesia and English
·         Participate
in APINDO training and capacity building programs conducted by local and
foreign technical experts

Academic
Qualifications:  Good Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or higher
with Majors oriented toward areas like economic policy, economic analysis,
trade, investment, industry, international economics, data, competitiveness, 3
years working experience with economic research, ability to operate particular
research application; ACCESS, SPSS, etc.
