The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF)
is a member of the Consortium of International Agricultural Research
Centers (CGIAR). As a global leader in agroforestry research and
development, ICRAF’s ultimate purpose is to improve human welfare by
reducing poverty, increasing cash income, improving food and nutritional
security, and increasing environmental resilience through improved
agroforestry systems. ICRAF has it’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya and
works in 28 countries throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America.
In 1992, the World Agroforestry Centre opened a program for Southeast
Asia with Bogor, in Indonesia, as its regional headquarters. We
currently work in five Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia,
Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and China.
The Position
Under the guidance of Ecological Modelling Unit (EMU) Leader, Research
Assistant provides assistance to research works in thematic program and
regular research activities to ensure high quality, accuracy and
consistency of the research
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following :
· Conduct field data collection particularly on carbon stock
measurement and biodiversity survey, including field work preparation,
selecting plots, geo-referencing measured plots, herbarium specimen
collection, and recording planting history of measured plots;
· Work closely with data manager and statistician in conducting
data management, data analysis of collected field data as well as data
from project partners;
· Assist project/team/unit leader in providing documentation and
report related to collected data and analyzed data as requested/as
necessary;
· Contribute to biophysics database development;
· Performing other related activities, this may arise from time to
time in support of ICRAF’s mandate and the Ecological Modeling Unit in
particular.

Qualifications and Skills Required:
· Minimum Bachelor Degree (S1) in the subjects related to natural
resources/ environment / earth sciences, e.g. Forestry, Agriculture,
Biology;
· Minimum 2 years of working experience in technical and research
activities related to carbon measurement, biodiversity, and
agroforestry;
· Have sufficient experience in working in the field;
· Have a good command of English and Indonesian;
· Able to work independently as well as being a team player.
Terms of offer
§ This is a Professional Fixed Term nationally recruited staff position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
§ The contract is for a period of 1 (one) year, with possibility of
renewal, subject to 3 (three) months evaluation period, assessment of
performance and availability of resources.
