The role:
Under the supervision of the DRR/CCA
Coordinator, the Media and Communications Officer will provide
communications skills in non-media external relations strategy and internal
communications within Oxfam(s) for all activities related to the implementation
of the “Building & Deepening Resilience in Eastern Indonesia” and otherprogrammes.
.
The requirement:
Essential
Skill and Competencies:
- Commitment
to Oxfam’s overall aims and beliefs, including strong commitment to gender, diversity issues, equal opportunities and
capacity building
- At least 3 years experiences as a working
journalist or public relations consultant/media officer in a non-government
organization or private companies.
- Education to a degree level in a relevant
discipline
- Have a good news-sense and an ability to react
quickly to maximize media opportunities to promote Oxfam’s aims and campaigns
in the media.
- Analytical skills with knowledge and good
understanding on global and national development issues.
- Proven extensive contact with editors and
journalists from media throughout Indonesia.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-cultural team
and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Fluency in both written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia
and English
- Computer
literacy in word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and to travel
frequently within countries and overseas.
- Experience in working in multi-sectoral programme and ability to manage
multiple priorities and work under pressure and to deadlines
Desirable
Skill and Competencies:
* Understanding of women empowerment and gender issues
* Good understanding of relief, DRR, and development issues, preferably
in the context of complex emergency situation with experience of or
ability to work directly with local NGOs and communities
* Experience with website development and administration
