II. Organizational Context and Scope
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Sub-Office/Project Manager
and overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, and in close
coordination with Project and Partnership Coordinator, the Public
Information Assistant (PIA) will assist in the planning, implementation
and monitoring of Public Information components of the DRR Project in
West Java Province.
III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. In coordination with Project and Partnership Coordinator, ensure
that public awareness activities through printing and audio visual
media are implemented according to the predetermined target and
timeframe and in line with donor requirements.
2. Collect information through e.g. field visits, interviews,
research and other relevant inputs necessary for the development of
Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials
3. Participate in the identification and development of various
awareness raising events that enable effective dissemination of
community resilience messages to relevant stakeholders;
4. Responsible for the timely production IEC materials in both
Bahasa Indonesia and English, and in coordination with Project and
Partnership Coordinator ensure that those IEC materials are distributed
and disseminated to the targeted communities, government entities,
partners, and other relevant stakeholders;
5. Keep track of various IEC materials produced and distributed;
6. Liaise with various local and national media ensuring that risk reduction messages reach large scale of audience;
7. Translate press releases, opinion editorials and other public documents pertaining DRR significant to IOM DRR project;
8. Prepare briefing papers and talking points for IOM public awareness activities e.g. radio and TV talk show;
9. In coordination with HoSo/PM and Project and Partnership
Coordinator identify various opportunities for synergies with various
stakeholders including universities and private sectors for
dissemination of DRR issues to targeted beneficiaries;
10. In coordination with Project and Partnership Coordinator, provide
inputs for reports pertaining public awareness activities;
11. Assist Project Manager to promote and raise awareness of the
project activities by establishing contacts with the local and national
journalist and as necessary assisting them during the field visit when
scheduled;
12. Act with integrity and professionalism and in accordance with IOM’s Code of Conduct, at all times;
13. Perform other duties as may be assigned by PM/HO

V. Education and Experience
a) Diploma Degree preferably in journalistic, communication, public
relations, political and social science, or alternatively, combination
of related education and professional experience. University Degree is
advantage.
b) Have at least four (4) years of professional experience in public
awareness raising activities in DRR or development project, UN
agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
d) Familiar with DRR and development issues.
e) Ability to prepare clear and concise reports
f) Demonstrated strong communication skills as well as interpersonal and public relation skills
g) Experience in developing lessons learned and best practices documents
h) Good written and spoken communications skills,
i) Good interpersonal skills, high loyalty, ability to work in a multi - cultural environment and good working in team
j) Proficient in computer applications
VI. Languages
Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia both written and spoken is required. Working knowledge of Sundanese is an advantage.
