Lowongan Kerja LSM/NGO: Chemonics seeks short-term National Food Safety Specialist

Chemonics seeks a short-term National Food Safety Specialist for the
USAID-funded Indonesia Marine and Climate Support project in Indonesia. The
project aims to sustainably manage Indonesia’s marine and coastal
ecosystems.

The National Food Safety Specialist will design interventions that will
reduce the risk of *Salmonella* contamination along the supply chain for
fish products. This will enable exporters to comply with international
market requirements such as the USA’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
and the EU’s European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) standards. The National
Food Safety Specialist will contribute to state of the art global
expertise, bringing an understanding of the demands of international
markets and international standards for fish product safety and
facilitating linkages to international supply chains.


Responsibilities include:

  - Review and compile information from available secondary sources of
  data (reports, data collected from KKP, DKP and/or other relevant
  institutions, policy/ legislation, Salmonella testing method and laboratory
  proficiency testing) related to Salmonella issues in Indonesia fisheries
  product for export
  - Design and implement a qualitative assessment to identify the causes
  of Salmonella contamination in selected pilot area in Indonesian small
  scale fisheries supply chains.
  - Compare Salmonella testing methods and practices of LPPMHP with FDA
  standards, and provide recommendation to improve compatibility
  - Plan and facilitate a workshop to present assessment findings, obtain
  feedback and input on assessment report, and develop three to five
  strategic interventions to minimize Salmonella contamination in small scale
  fisheries, involving government and private sector stakeholders from the
  national and local levels.
  - Develop step by step simple guidelines for small scale  fish handlers
  on better handling practices to reducing risk to Salmonella contamination.

Qualifications include:


  - HACCP/Auditor is a minimum requirement
  - Proven experience solving Salmonella contamination
  - Seafood Quality Facilitator (ISO/SQF/etc)
  - Experience working with small scale fishers and buyers
  - Fish export experience and knowledge of US and EU standards
  - Experience developing simple guidelines for literate people
  - At least six years of experience working in food safety
  - Experience providing technical assistance to central or local
  government preferred
  -
  - Master’s preferred or relevant experience.
  - Strong communication skills, both interpersonal and written, to
  fulfill the technical and managerial responsibilities proposed.
  - Strong English writing and speaking skills required
