AMARTA II is a USAID funded program that aims to improve the
competitiveness of the value chains of three high-value commodities:
Coffee, Cocoa and Horticultural crops and to increase the access to
credit of smallholder farmers in these three sectors.
The project will work extensively with local government, farmers groups,
marketing companies, processors, input suppliers and other stakeholders
to increase the income of the whole sector and the proportion of income
retained by farmers.
Our project and offices are in Medan, Makassar, Bandung, and our National Office is located in Jakarta.
We are currently seeking experienced professionals to fill the Senior Field Technician for Coffee for 2 persons based in Medan.
Senior Field Technician for Coffee. S/he will be responsible for
establishing and maintaining relationships with key partners including
individual farmers, producer organizations, coffee exporters,
processors, local traders, agricultural extension officers, input
suppliers (fertilizers, bio-pesticide, machine/equipment), and local
government.
S/he will conduct training on holistic aspects of production, quality
control, processing, marketing and other links in the coffee value chain
including the development of technical processes to improve delivery of
training services to value chain players.
S/he will also provide technical leadership to farmers, producers
organizations and relevant value chain actors including the diagnosis of
technical issues and resolution of constraints faced by value chain
actors.
Key tasks include conducting research and surveys covering the whole
length of the coffee value chain, finding technically sound solutions
for problems faced by small holder farmers and producer organizations
and facilitating the adoption of technology & good agricultural
practices (GAP) that addresses gender and household issues relevant in
the context of the AMARTA II Program.
Requirements: University degree in agriculture, agribusiness or similar
field. Minimum 5 years of experience in the agribusiness industry,
coffee related field experience and experience in supporting small and
medium enterprises and cooperatives are preferred. Knowledgeable in the
field of agribusiness linkages and value chain assessment. Should be
able to work with coffee farmers and know the local communities where
they work. Should show proven ability work independently and travel long
distances by motorbike in rural areas. Previous experience with USAID
supported programs and English language ability are pluses. Must show
proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software including Word,
Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Web and internet knowledge are pluses.
Duration of assignment is 12 months and starting date immediately.
