Foundation currently runs a number of philanthropic programs in
Indonesia ranging from scholarship, teachers training, school
improvement programs,research support, to small business development.

Technical Project Officer (TPO), Training Specialist (based in Jambi)
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the content and
trainings, and achievements of results and impact of the training
programs. S/He will act as the primary implementer of training-related
activities of Tanoto Foundation programs in Jambi. The incumbent is
responsible for providing program design, monitoring and evaluation and
impact measurement as well as implementation plans and milestones, to
ensure consistency with approved strategies within the entire Tanoto
Foundation Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
1.Conduct baseline/ Knowledge Attitude & Practices Survey (KAP
Survey) and compile data or information from various sources regarding
teacher capacities and available resources for student-centered
learning, particularly in the areas of reading, language, mathematics,
and natural and social sciences. Ensure the proper socialization of
project activities.
2.Ensure program planning and implementation is according to the set
strategic plan, logical framework (log frame) and work plan, and is
appropriate for all project sites.
3.Support the development and implementation of training materials
relevant for projects and conduct all required trainings in the field.
4.Together with the Program Managers (PM) and M&E Coordinator,
design a monitoring tool, based on the log frame and indicators, to
ensure that an appropriate monitoring system is in place, and is being
implemented by the Regional Project Officers (RPOs).
5.Coordinate with the PM and Regional Project Manager (RPM) to ensure
the targets of the projects within the designated timeframe.
6.Advocate with and coordinate closely with governments particularly
education departments, and school staff to encourage better educational
services by them.
7.Provide monthly reports to the RPM on the progress made and potential problems.
8.Facilitate, control and support any consultants of the projects in the field.
9.Ensure the financial administration of the field projects meet the standards of the Tanoto Foundation system.
10.Conduct any other duties that may reasonably be assigned inline with the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelors degree in Education or any relevant background.
•At least 3 years experience as trainer/facilitator of teacher trainings on teaching and learning methods
•Good communications skills, including negotiation skills
•Good interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for beneficiaries
•Willing to spend a considerable amount of time in the field
•Honest, responsible, self motivated and able to take initiative under minimum supervision
•Able to give helpful directions, detailed instructions and demonstrations
•Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team in a cross cultural environment
•Able to negotiate and to clarify expectations of both the beneficiaries and team
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Based in Jambi with up to 50% traveling within the province to the project sites
Sr. Program Officer Pelita Pendidikan
Job Summary
The Sr. Program Officer Pelita Pendidikan will be supporting the
implementation and management of Pelita Pendidikan Program and
Improvement Program of RGE Schools under overall guidance of Pelita
Pendidikan Program Manager.
Pelita Pendidikan is a 5-year school development program currently
implemented in several provinces of Sumatra. This program is now in its
second year. The Program Officer will provide overall supports of Pelita
Pendidikan, including but not limited to, supports the management and
implementation of Pelita Pendidikan in Jakarta Office and Field Offices,
ensuring adequate supports of financial and administrative procedures
and documentation of the programs, maintaining databases and
documentation of the Programs, following special initiative of the
programs, and supporting the monitoring and evaluation systems of the
programs in the field and Jakarta Office.
The RGE Schools program aims at improving the quality and the governance
of the schools established and run by RGE companies (APRIL and Asian
Agri) to ensure achievement of stated objectives. The Sr. Program
Officer will be supporting Pelita Pendidikan Program Manager and
School-based Management Coordinator in implementation of RGE Schools
program at National and Provincial Level to improve standard and quality
of the RGE Schools, including but not limited to administrations,
documentations and databases of the programs.
Responsibilities:
Program Management and Implementation Support
1.Supporting on-going Pelita Pendidikan program implementation in the
field which requires support from the Jakarta office, including, but not
limited to:
•Ensuring the program implementation, program reporting, program
budgeting and program monitoring and evaluation is in line with the
approved SOPs, checklists, action plans, and schedules.
•Reviewing and processing proposals from schools for Pelita Sekolah Aman & Pelita Sekolah Sehat components,
•Reviewing and processing agreements between the schools and Tanoto Foundation for all Pelita Pendidikan program components, and
•Liaising with other departments within the Tanoto Foundation and with
relevant service providers to ensure timely support is provided for
field staff.
2.Coordinating the pilot implementation and setting up of Beasiswa Guru
Pelita Pendidikan, including but not limited in developing SOPs,
checklists and other forms as needed, monitoring the implementation of
the initiatives in the fields.
3.Coordinating the pilot implementation and setting up of Tanoto
Education Grant from administration and proposal selection,
verification, and final presentation, including but not limited in
developing SOPs, checklists and other forms as needed.
4.Supporting the completion of the following projects:
•Publishing Forum Pelita Pendidikan book on best practices of education.
•Collecting baseline and needs assessment data for a new program initiative (daycare center/ 3Es in Asian Agri).
5.In coordination with Pelita Pendidikan Program Manager and Regional
Project Managers, undertake field visits to Pelita Pendidikan working
sites to monitor and identify bottle neck, challenges, constraints of
the program implementation, and together with Regional Project Managers
to develop best possible recommendation and solution of the program
initiatives.
Supports to RGE Schools Initiatives
1.Supporting ongoing RGE Schools Initiatives, in coordination with
School Based Coordinator at Jakarta, in the field which requires
supports from Jakarta Office, including but not limited to:
•Liaising with other departments within the Tanoto Foundation and with
relevant service providers to ensure timely support is provided for
field staff.
•In coordination with Pelita Pendidikan Program Manager and School Based
Coordinator, to monitor and identify bottle neck, challenges and
constraints of RGE Schools initiatives in the field, and together with
respective RPO and RPMs to develop best possible recommendation and
solution of the program initiatives.
Documentation and Asset Management
1.To provide active roles of all documentation within Pelita Pendidikan Progam, including, but not limited to:
•Technical and Narrative reports of entire Pelita Pendidikan Program in
Jakarta and Provincial Level, in a systematic filing and documentation
system.
•Financial, both consolidated and provincial specifics, reports in a systematic filling and documentation system.
•Agreement and other legal documents, with Partners in Jakarta and field.
•Any other documents as required to be filled and documented.
2.In coordination with FATLC, and Pelita Pendidikan Staff (Jakarta and
Field) to actively recording and updating Pelita Pendidikan assets in
possession, to be reported and documented.
Others
1.Perform other relevant duties as reasonably assigned by the immediate supervisor or Management of Tanoto Foundation.
Duty Station and working condition:
The Sr. Program Officer will be based in Tanoto Foundatin Jakarta
Office, with frequent travel to Field Staff as required. (Jakarta 60%,
Travel 40%).
QUALIFICATIONS
1.Minimum of Bachelor Degree from reputable university, preferable in
education back ground, – a Post graduate would be advantageous.
2.A minimum of 5 years experience in project management, experience in
large scale program (both coverage and budget management) would be
advantageous.
3.Previous experience in liaisons with stakeholders and counterparts, monitoring and evaluation would be advantageous.
4.Demonstrated ability to achieve results, including team building – could work independently and as team player
5.Knowledge and experience in Project Management is highly desirable
6.Strong communication skills, ability to communicate in English (both oral and written) is good.
7.Able to do multi-tasking, working in high pressure to meet results,
working withminimum supervision and multi-cultural environment.
8.Able to use computers and MS Windows Applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point)
9.Willing to travel to project sites as required.
