supporting markets, and the enabling environment (government cooperation). These include increasing production and
quality at the farm level, improving buyers’ business practices so that they
are more inclusive of the poor and provide needed-sustainable support to
farmers, increased access to national and international markets by nutmeg and
clove exporters, and improving the policy Enabling Environment.
Spice Up the Deal(SUD) will work in five villages in
the sub districts of Tehorou and Amahai (Seram island) and Leihitu (Ambon island). The
project will benefit 1,500 farmers or 7,500 individuals. Interventions include
trainings via extension officers and Business Service MSEs; facilitation of
improved access to inputs and services via the private sector; and facilitation
of more favorable business relationships between farmers and buyers. These
interventions are geared towards the system changes of improved information
services, product differentiation. These
systemic changes results in higher prices for higher quality produce and
contribute to higher incomes for spice producers. Through co-investments and capacity building/
strategy advisory services, SUD will benefit 15 Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSMEs), ten of which are currently buying nutmeg and clove from
throughout the entire Maluku province. In the longer term, SUD activities will lead to broader impact as
improved practices are replicated throughout the nutmeg/ clove market system,
improving opportunities for clove and nutmeg farmers in the entire Maluku Province.
1. ME Officer - SUD
Responsible for working with SUD
Program Coordinator to develop an M&E plan, relevant indicators and tools
for measurement, , assist with the analysis of data and discuss with Program
Coord and Field Officers how to use the results in implementation
Qualifications:
· Possess
a relevant university degree or college diploma and relevant 2-3 years work
experience;
· Experience
working in monitoring and evaluation, ideally in an NGO context;
· Fluency
in English, both written and spoken, highly desired;
2. Business Capacity Officer - SUD
Responsible
for working with SUD Program Coordinator in order to improve capacity of
farmers business group or cooperative as one of market actor in spices supply
chain. Working closely with the business farmers’ group/cooperative in day to
day program implementation and assist the business group to be functioned as
expected.
Qualifications:
· Possess
a relevant university degree or college diploma and relevant 2-3 years work
experience;
· Experience
working in business set up, ideally in an NGO context or private sector context
or both;
· Have
background as bank officer in SME division are preferred;
· Fluency
in English, both written and spoken, highly desired.
