Background
STATT’s programs
with civil society in Indonesia are growing quickly. We are inviting applicants
for exciting work as a Data Analyst focused on collecting and analysing data
about the NGO sector in Indonesia. You will be collaborating with a small
project team in Indonesia and connecting with our civil society initiatives spread
across several countries. The job is based in Jakarta and will involve some
travel within Indonesia. It is a 6-month initial contract, commencing in June
2012.

Your Responsibilities
Your primary
responsibility is to pull together existing data on NGOs and the NGO sector across
Indonesia, participating in a team producing novel analysis of trends and
capacities. Working with the Lead Researcher and the Director of Programs –
Indonesia, you will apply your analytical skills to guide STATT’s services to
NGOs and other organisations. Your individual and team tasks will include the
following:
· Implement stocktaking of
existing databases and compilation and initial analysis of existing
quantitative and financial data, including participating in related field
research outside of Jakarta
· Participate in analysis of
mapping and stocktaking for production of Inception Report and design of
original research.
· Provide input and support as
requested for projects focused on civil society engagement.
Your Background and Qualifications
This role
requires someone who is self-motivated in managing research work and who is
interested in Indonesian development or civil society. The role is both
challenging and rewarding. The following qualifications and experience are
necessary:
· Master (S2) in Public Policy, Business,
Management, or other relevant field; or Bachelors (S1) with additional 2 years
of experience
· Minimum 2 years of experience managing
quantitative databases including financial data
· Knowledge of NGO management and
structures, with minimum 2 years of professional experience working within the
NGO sector in Indonesia. Experience working for or substantively interacting
with international development agencies desirable
· Proven analytical skills and an
ability to translate your analysis into strong and accessible written products
· Strong communication and
language skills in Indonesian and English
· Experience designing and
overseeing original quantitative research is highly desirable
· Experience translating data
into presentations and visualisations is desirable
