candidates for the following position:
Position: Logistics Officer (Supply Chain and Disaster Risk
Reduction)
Contract Type: Service Contract
Duty Station: Jakarta, Indonesia
Accountabilities:
Under the supervision of the Head of Pillar Two: Supply Chain and Disaster
Management Unit of WFP Indonesia, the incumbent of the position will be
responsible for the following duties:
The overall supply chain and disaster management activities which
includes design, develop, implement and monitor Logistics, Supply chain in
Disaster Risk Reduction and emergency responses tools/activities;
Enhance government capacity in identifying fields of capacity
development and give assistance in planning, formulating, and targeting
recipients in disaster preparedness and response components at the
national, provincial and district levels.
Reinforce provincial disaster preparedness and response
institutions and systems with a focus on logistics Preparedness
capacities;
Implementing capacity development strategies agreed to between WFP
and national/provincial governments;
Define logistics strategy within the WFP policies and procedures
and provide specific technical areas of competence, ensure effective
integration of all operational transport matters arising in the country
including arrange for transport related contracts, including agency
agreements
Lead Logistics Cluster interagency meetings, prepare logistics
work plans and concept of Operations in emergency situation.
Provide continuing liaison with donors, UN agencies and NGOs
providing technical or other forms of assistance to WFP assisted projects;
Ensure effective communication and coordination mechanisms between
the central, provincial and districts levels with all actors in DRR are in
place;
Prepare periodic reports on the progress of operational projects
and related government plans to ensure compliance with WFP’s policies,
criteria and procedures with respect to food assistances;
Assist Country Directors and Head of Supply Chain Management Unit
in all matters related to the delivery of WFP emergency assistance and
bring to the attention of appropriate country office staff any
administrative constraints arising from rapidly evolving emergency
situations in the field;
In collaboration with other units assess the need for food in
emergency situations, draw up plans for its timely arrival in coordination
with government and other donors, and monitor the implementation of these
plans;
Support strategic planning, advocacy and other initiatives of the
government of Indonesia across the three focus areas and establish a
network among the stakeholders to share new knowledge and learning for
dissemination at national, provincial and international level;
Support the identification of potential new funding sources and
provide linkages with potential cooperating partners;
Provide guidance, support and technical advice to the sub-offices
and external parties, especially on the methodologies and project design
for implementation across the focus areas;
Develop and review presentation, advocacy products, project
proposals, guidelines, tools, training and methodologies and other
promotion materials required for successful implementation of DRR projects
in Indonesia within the focus areas;
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experiences:
Education: University degree in relevant discipline.
Experience: At least three years of postgraduate in designing a multi-year
program or strategy in Logistics – Supply chain management and Disaster
Risk Reduction.
Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of supply chain and DRR and
excellent in coordinating with Government agency, International agencies
and other actors.
Language: Excellent English language skills and demonstrated ability to
represent WFP in forums and other external engagements; Excellent and
demonstrated analytical and report writing skills.
