ChildFund Indonesia is currently seeking:

Position        : Child Protection Specialist (Position Code: CPS)
Reporting to  : Program Director
Based in       : Jakarta


Functional Summary

The Child Protection Specialist position provides technical leadership to build and/or strengthen ChildFund Indonesia’s child protection program portfolio and enhance its program quality on behalf of children in development and emergency contexts.  The Specialist plays a lead role in developing, learning and executing strategies. The Specialist also leads program design efforts aimed at increasing the ChildFund’s grant portfolio in child protection. He or she represents the organization externally and develops external contacts to develop ChildFund’s resource base.  The Specialist works collaboratively with divisional, regional and field-based colleagues in support of program design, implementation, evaluation and learning in line with ChildFund Indonesia’s programs. As may be requested, the Specialist also supports the child protection effort of ChildFund in the whole Asia Region.

Key Responsibilities

Provides technical assistance and technical leadership about child protection. This includes the development of innovations, development of program standards and designs and analysis of underlying causes of child protection issues in line with organizational theories of change and pathwaysLeads learning agenda inquiries, including design of action research, design and facilitation of workshops and learning events, and primary authorship of publications and toolkits related to child protectionDevelops position statements, methodologies, and frameworks related to ChildFund’s theories of change and child protection.Leads program design teams for technical proposals and contributes to costing of proposals and concept notes.Cultivates relationships with major donors  and foundations on behalf of the organization to be able to raise resources for child protection programsServes as senior level representation functions for the organization as organizational
representative to technical working groups, steering committees, and industry events related to child protectionWorks with local partners  to mainstream child protection in sponsorship-funded programsServes as a technical resource to the whole ChildFund Asia Region when it comes to child protection programmingOther duties as assigned

Qualifications and experience

Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in child protection programming with a minimum of 3 years field experience required.Demonstrated technical competencies in child protection program design, implementation, and evaluation.Demonstrated experience working with children experiencing deprivation, exclusion and vulnerability and their families.Proven ability in participatory training and capacity building program design, delivery and assessment.Demonstrated experience with child protection proposal development, including the technical strategy design and narrative writing.Proven ability to provide high quality technical assistance, guidance and coaching to implementing staff and partners.Proven experience with donor agencies and grant making processes.Demonstrated representation and networking experience with multilateral agencies, foundations, and other institutions focused on child protection programming for children and young adolescents.Organized,
detail-oriented, team player, self-starter and results-oriented individual.Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.Bilingual preferred (English with Indonesian).Excellent presentation, public speaking and interpersonal skills.Strong computer skills, with familiarity in using Microsoft Office suite applications (particularly Word and PowerPoint).Significant Travel outside of Jakarta required.Master’s degree in field relevant to child protection, such as child development, psychology or social work preferred.
